Hey! Today is a vey long day for me, but it is always nice to take a break and chat with you! For Tasty Tip Tuesday I thought I would share some recipes and alternatives. As you may have noticed from yesterdays blog, we have some specials in the cafeteria tonight for supper. One of those is Fruit Pizza! I don't know about you but i rather enjoy it:) As I was preparing to write my blog I did a little research on the ingredients and nuitrion of it. According to http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Makeover-Fruit-Pizza it is about 170 calories and for a pizza that is amazing! If you remeber last week we could eat about one deep fried french toast stick and that woud equal one slice of fruit pizza! I think you are getting the better deal. As with any recipe you can have the healthy and the not quite as healthy. I always found it interesting to compare recipes and find out what makes one more healthier. I always thought of fruit and grains as being healthy but there is a drastic difference between the first recipe and this one:http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Fruit-Pizza-4 .
If you are working on improving your diet and taking in less calories I would really consider adapting the first recipe into your home. It makes for a lovely hors d'oeuvres at a party, or simply as a dessert at home. I know I always enjoyed them when my mom would make them:) I hope you have a wonderful night and that you try one of these recipes and I will enjoy mine tonight- I will talk to you again tomorrow for Whatever Wednesday!
*P.S.- Make sure you check out these websites- they offer really good ideas and healthy recipes- if you scroll to the bottom of the page @ the websites they show you many ways to cook with fruit and also alternative fruit options for your pizza, however, make sure you check the calorie intake, some are much higher than others!
