Entertainment Friday: Good Hair

It's Friday!!!  So I wasn't quite sure what to do for today, but in American Minority Writers (an english class) we are required to find something that has to do with other cultures in our world today and share it with the class. One of my fellow classmates found this trailer to a new movie directed by Chris Rock. The movie is entitled: Good Hair. We found the concept of  African American women wanting to make their hair like our's. They wan't that straight sleek look and some of these women will do pretty much anything. Another point that was brought up is how important your hair is to your image! I guess I never really just stopped to think about it, but it really is important how your hair looks. I spend money to get it cut and styled, I straighten it, and I wash it every morning to avoid being greasy. The way my hair looks is important and if you don't believe me you can ask my boyfriend.

I don't know if this movie is playing in theaters, my classmate said she couldn't find any theaters that were playing it, but I think you should take a look at the trailer- its very interesting.  I want to know your opinions on it, I know that we looked at some comments left by other African Americans and some of them were offened by this, and others were okay with it.  I hope you have a safe weekend and an awesome Friday!!!!
